Barcode & QR Code is a small set of free tools for making barcodes and QR codes, right in your browser.

Who is behind this site

I'm a developer, and I built this site myself. Barcode and QR code tools are something I kept seeing people need: a shop owner labelling products, a café putting its menu on a table, a small team tagging equipment. Too many of the tools out there ask you to sign up, bury the download button, or slap a watermark on the result.

So I decided to keep these tools free. No account, no watermark, no limits on how many codes you make. If this site saves you a few minutes or an awkward trip to a designer, it's done its job.

What you'll find here

Here you'll find a QR code generator (links, text, Wi-Fi, contact cards, email and WhatsApp), a QR code scanner and a barcode generator that covers seven common formats: Code 128, EAN-13, EAN-8, UPC-A, UPC-E, Code 39 and ITF-14. Each format is checked properly, so if the check digit is wrong or a character isn't allowed, you'll be told rather than handed a barcode that won't work.

How I approach it

  • Simple. Pick a format, type your data, download or print.
  • Private by design. Everything runs in your browser. What you type never reaches my server.
  • No unnecessary registration. The basic tools are free and do not need an account.
  • Practical. I explain what each format is for and where it falls short, so you can pick the right one.

What's planned

I'd like to add more over time, like a barcode scanner, a barcode validator and bulk generation. A tool only goes live once it works properly and comes with some useful guidance.

An important distinction

One thing to be clear about: this site makes barcode images. It doesn't issue, register or verify product numbers like GTINs, UPCs or EANs. If your business needs official numbers for retail, get them from GS1 through your local GS1 office. See our note on GS1.
