WhatsApp QR Code Generator
Make a QR code that opens a WhatsApp chat with your number, with a first message already typed if you like.
Country code first, no leading 0 or + (for example 14155550123).
Style and colours
Logo or icon in the centre
A centre image hides part of the code, so error correction is set to High automatically. Keep logos simple and test the result with your phone. Your logo is used in your browser only and is never uploaded. Social media logos are trademarks of their owners: use them to point to your own profiles and follow each brand's guidelines.
Sticker or frame
Size and error correction
Quiet zone is the blank border around the code, measured in squares. Keep it at 4 or more. Higher error correction survives more damage but makes a denser code.
Your QR code will appear here.
Everything you enter is processed in your browser and is not uploaded to our server.
At a glance
| Encodes | A wa.me click-to-chat link |
|---|---|
| Required | A phone number with country code |
| Optional | A pre-filled message |
| Type | Static: stored in the code itself |
What you can enter
- Phone number: country code first, then the number, with no leading 0, for example
14155550123 - A leading + or 00 is removed for you
- Message: optional text that appears ready to send
How a WhatsApp QR code works
The code holds a link in the form https://wa.me/<number>, with a pre-filled message added if you want one. When someone scans it, their phone opens WhatsApp with a chat to that number. They still press send themselves, and WhatsApp has to be installed.
Getting the number right
The number has to be in full international format: country code first, then the number with no leading zero, spaces or symbols. A US number like +1 415 555 0123 becomes 14155550123. If the length looks off, the generator will tell you.
Anyone who scans the code can see the number, so use a business number if you'd rather not publish your personal one. Other ways to be reached: an email QR code or a vCard QR code. All the types are on the QR code generator page.
How to create a WhatsApp QR code
- Fill in the details above (number with country code, and optionally a message).
- Check the preview and read any message under the fields. It explains how to fix anything that isn't valid.
- Open “Size, colours and error correction” if you want a different colour, size or error-correction level.
- Select Download PNG, Download SVG or Print. Files are named
qr-code-whatsapp.pngandqr-code-whatsapp.svg.
Before printing in volume, scan the code with two different phones. QR Code is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED.
WhatsApp QR Code questions
Do people need WhatsApp installed?
Yes. If it isn't installed, the link opens in the browser and suggests installing it or using WhatsApp Web.
Why does it need the country code?
WhatsApp identifies people by their international number. Without the country code the link wouldn't reach the right person.
Is this an official WhatsApp tool?
No. This site is independent and has no link with WhatsApp. The code just uses WhatsApp's public click-to-chat link format.
