QR Code Scanner

Scan a QR code with your camera or upload a picture of one. You'll see what's inside before anything gets opened.

The camera feed and images are processed in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

How to scan a QR code

  1. Select Start camera and allow camera access when your browser asks.
  2. Hold the code steady inside the frame, with the whole code and its white border visible.
  3. The result appears below the camera. Nothing opens automatically.
  4. Prefer a picture? Choose Scan from an image and select a screenshot or photo.

Staying safe

  • Look at the full address before you open a link, especially for codes on stickers or posters you don't recognise.
  • Be careful with codes that ask for passwords or payments.
  • A Wi-Fi code adds a network to your device, so scan those only from sources you trust.

Want to make your own code? Use the QR code generator.

Scanner questions

Is the camera image uploaded?

No. The camera feed and any image you pick stay in your browser. Nothing is sent to our server.

Why does the scanner ask for camera permission?

Browsers always ask before a website can use your camera. You can say no and scan from an image instead.

It doesn't find my QR code. What can I try?

Move a bit closer, keep the whole code and its white border in view, find better light and hold still. If you're using an image, pick a sharp, bright one.

Can it scan barcodes too?

Not yet, it only reads QR codes. You can make barcodes with the barcode generator, though.

Is it safe to open links from QR codes?

Be careful with codes you don't recognise. This scanner shows you the full address first and only opens it if you choose to.
