A centre image hides part of the code, so error correction is set to High automatically. Keep logos simple and test the result with your phone. Your logo is used in your browser only and is never uploaded. Social media logos are trademarks of their owners: use them to point to your own profiles and follow each brand's guidelines.

Quiet zone is the blank border around the code, measured in squares. Keep it at 4 or more. Higher error correction survives more damage but makes a denser code.

Everything you enter is processed in your browser and is not uploaded to our server.

What you can enter

  • A full web address such as https://example.com/menu
  • If you leave out https://, it is added for you
  • Only http:// and https:// addresses are accepted
  • Up to 1000 characters; shorter addresses make simpler, easier-to-scan codes

How a URL QR code works

The QR code simply holds your web address as text. When someone scans it, their phone sees the address and offers to open it. There's no middleman in between, so the code keeps working for as long as your page does, and this site never sees who scans it.

The downside is that you can't edit a code after it's printed. If the destination might change, point the code at a page you control, like a short address on your own site, and update that page instead.

Tips for URL QR codes

  • Keep the address as short as you can. Fewer characters make a simpler code that scans faster and from further away.
  • Link to a page that works well on a phone, because that's what almost everyone scans with.
  • Scan the printed code with two or three different phones before you print a big batch.
  • Put a few words next to the code, like “Scan to see the menu”, so people know why they should bother.

Want to share Wi-Fi instead of a page? Use a Wi-Fi QR code. And if someone handed you a code and you'd like to check it, try the QR code scanner.

How to create a URL QR code

  1. Fill in the details above (paste the address).
  2. Check the preview and read any message under the fields. It explains how to fix anything that isn't valid.
  3. Open “Size, colours and error correction” if you want a different colour, size or error-correction level.
  4. Select Download PNG, Download SVG or Print. Files are named qr-code-url.png and qr-code-url.svg.

Before printing in volume, scan the code with two different phones. QR Code is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED.

URL QR Code questions

Will my QR code stop working?

No. The link is stored inside the code itself, so it keeps working as long as the page does.

Do you track scans?

No. The code opens your address directly and never passes through our servers, so we have no way to count scans.

Can I change the link after printing?

Not in the code itself. If you want that freedom, link to a page you control and change that page instead.

Why was https:// added to my address?

Phones need a full address to open a link reliably. If you type example.com, we add https:// and let you know.
